What to expect
- before
- Numbing cream, 30 minutes.
- No retinol for a week.
- Clear three to five days.
- during
- Cool air throughout.
- Forty-five minutes.
- It feels hot rather than sharp.

- Three to five days of redness and flaking.
- No sun for ten days, and that is not negotiable.
- A course of three, a month apart.
The days after
- Day 0It feels like a sunburn: redness and warmth.
- Day 3The skin darkens slightly and starts to flake. Do not pick.
- Day 7New skin shows, still sensitive. Sun protection, always.
- Day 14The tone is more even. Session two in about four weeks.
What it will not do
Resurfacing needs ten days of no sun afterwards. If you cannot give it those, the honest answer is to come back in October.
