What it involves
A child's first dental appointment should be boring. We count teeth, look with a mirror, and let them hold the instruments. If nothing needs doing, nothing gets done.
Where treatment is needed we explain it to the child in their own words before we explain it to you. A parent stays in the room throughout, and we stop the moment a child asks us to.
Who it is for
- A first visit from around the age of one
- Check-ups every six months once the teeth are through
- Fluoride varnish and sealants for higher-risk teeth
- A child who has had a difficult experience somewhere else
How it goes
- 01
Meeting the room
A ride in the chair, a look in the mirror, and a count. No instruments unless they are curious about them.
- 02
Check-up
A gentle examination, and photographs if anything needs monitoring rather than treating.
- 03
Prevention
Fluoride varnish, sealants where the grooves are deep, and brushing coached with a timer.
- 04
Next time
A six-month recall and a short note of what to watch for at home.
Worth knowing
We do not hold children still or use restraint. If a child is not ready, we book a shorter, easier visit instead.
Questions we get
About forty-five minutes. A conversation about what is bothering you, an examination, a 3D scan and photographs, then a plan on screen with the price beside it. Nothing is treated on a first visit unless you are in pain and ask us to.
Most of what we do happens under local anaesthetic, and you will feel pressure rather than pain. Topical gel goes on before the injection. For longer appointments — or if anxiety is the reason you have been putting this off — conscious sedation is available: you stay awake and responsive, but remember very little of it.
We provide itemised invoices and treatment codes that most Lebanese and international insurers accept, and we will help you submit them. We are not able to bill insurers directly.
